Want to share a TikTok video? Paste the link on its own line, and Buttondown will embed it for you.
Because email clients can't play video, Buttondown actually renders TikTok embeds twice:
- In the email itself, you'll get a thumbnail card showing the video's title and creator, with a click-through to TikTok.
- In your web archive version, subscribers see a live, playable embed they can watch without leaving your site.
You can preview both with the Email / Web toggle in the editor.
A few things to know:
- Use the canonical URL:
https://www.tiktok.com/@username/video/1234567890. The mobile share menu sometimes hands you avt.tiktok.com/...short link instead — open that link in a browser first and copy the expanded URL from the address bar. - Photo carousel posts (URLs with
/photo/instead of/video/) aren't supported — TikTok doesn't expose an embed for those, so the link will appear as a plain link. - The link needs to be on its own line, not inside a paragraph, list, or blockquote.
